Windows Drivers for 0a12:0001 CSR USB Bluetooth Adapter

Recently I picked up a very cheap USB Bluetooth adapter for my laptop from ebay. It looks like this:

And here is an amazon link to the adapter: www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-USB-Micro-Adapter-Dongle

I plugged it in and Windows 7 seemed to reconise it. The problem came when I tried to pair it with my Creative D100 speakers. The speakers were found but when trying to pair Windows said it didn't have drivers for the device. It seems that the adapter is usually supplier with a CD containing a shareware version of BlueSoleil which is a Bluetooth stack that operates independently of the Windows Bluetooth Stack. I wasn't keen on paying for this software so I could use my adapter, so managed to find a driver package for Windows for this device.

The Asus USBBT211 uses the same chipset as this generic dongle. After installing the Asus drivers from http://www.asus.com/Networking/USBBT211_Mini_Bluetooth_Dongle#support_Download for Windows 7 x64, rebooting and trying to pair my device again it worked correctly.

  1. Great tip!! My BT dongle is CSR and couldn't find the Windows 7 drivers for the audio support. This ASUS package worked fine. Thanks.

  3. Fantastic, thank you. Spent hours trying to find a driver that would work and was about to give up. Had to restart a few times (it didn't want to connect so the headset would receive all the audio from the pc) but eventually synced up.

  6. After reading this post, I looked through the drivers that came with my copy of Windows 7 and there was one ASUS one for the BT-183. I tried it and it worked. Just a heads up. That might save others the time of having to download anything. Thank you very much for the tip.

  7. I know that this post is over four years old, but I still wanted to say thank you so much for this! It helped me get audio working on my old IBM laptop with Windows XP installed and the same CSR USB Bluetooth adapter. Was struggling with Bluetooth audio on my modern Windows 10 tablet... it would randomly drop out audio, or Bluetooth would stop working all together, requiring a reboot to fix. Found a couple of XP drivers for this USB adapter, and although I could pair my Bluetooth headphones, I couldn't send any audio to them. The ASUS download was the key to getting everything working. Audio is smooth now and no dropouts, and Windows XP lives on! Thanks again.
